FAQ

  • Fees are determined based on your monthly income or ability to pay. For couples, fees are based on combined monthly income. We are open to discussing your financial situation and setting a fee that works for you.

There are three sliding scales available:

    • Trainee Therapist: A therapist currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program and completing their practicum fieldwork.

    • Associate Therapist: A therapist who has completed their Master’s degree, is registered with the BBS, and is accruing hours toward licensure.

    • Licensed Therapist: A fully licensed therapist.

We also accept most Medi-Cal plans in Sacramento and surrounding areas, many commercial insurance plans, Victims of Crime Compensation, and select Employee Assistance Program (EAP) plans.

  • The first step is to call and ask any questions you may have while speaking with a counselor. If you feel comfortable, you can schedule an appointment. If not, you’re welcome to call the main line and request another counselor.

Counseling is a collaborative process, and it’s important to work with someone you feel comfortable with.

The first session typically involves reviewing policies, fees, and the reasons you’re seeking counseling. It’s also an opportunity for you to assess your comfort level with the counselor. Toward the end of the session, the counselor will discuss what they can offer and recommend a session frequency. Together, you’ll decide if you’d like to continue working together and how often to meet.

Sessions are generally 53 minutes long and scheduled weekly, but frequency can be adjusted based on schedules, affordability, and needs, ranging from twice a week to monthly in rare cases.

  • Please note that not all therapists can accept every insurance plan. While we may be listed as a provider, reimbursement depends on the specific therapist and plan.
